Amanda Jean Pape was born August 24, 1984, to Dane and Heidi (Henschen) Pape in Des Moines, Iowa. Amanda was raised in Pisgah and graduated from West Harrison High School in 2003. She then attended Iowa State University and received her degree in Animal Science in 2007. Amanda worked for McFarland Clinic in Ames, Iowa and as of July of 2009 she worked at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Amanda loved sports. She participated in track ~ running the 100 meter dash and the 4x100 relay ~ making it to state two years, softball, volleyball and she was on the National Honor Society in high school. She was also involved in 4-H and she loved animals. Amanda was always ready for a good euchre game. When Amanda was at ISU, she would save the dogs on "death row" at the Humane Society. She also volunteered at Rescue Dog - a part of the Humane Society. Amanda loved watching rodeos, hunting, fishing and she loved to hunt for "sheds." Amanda was baptized into the Lutheran faith.

Amanda died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Ronald Regan Hospital in Los Angeles, California at the age of 25 years, three months, and 22 days.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Dane and Heidi Pape and sister Cassidy Pape all of Pisgah, Iowa; "sister" 2Manda Hinkel of Mondamin, Iowa; her dog, Bria; grandparents, Dennis and Betty Henschen of Charter Oak, Iowa, Larry and Donna Pape of Bella Vista, Arkansas; aunts and uncles, Scott and Brenda Pape of Little Sioux, Iowa, Todd and Casey Pape of Pisgah, Iowa, Ryan and Regina Henschen of Onawa, Iowa, Dustin Henschen of Ute, Iowa, Troy and Heather Hall of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
