Anita B. Myer

Anita B. Myer was born on April 9, 1943, in Glendale, California, to parents Adison and Dorothy (Holeton) Myer. Shortly after her birth, the family moved and settled on the farm outside Woodbine, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated in 1961. A dedicated and hard-working individual, Anita built a remarkable career in both education and civil service. She served in various capacities throughout her professional life, including employment at the CIA in Washington, D.C., Omaha University, Woodbine Community Schools, Area XIII, Deupree and Brothers Variety and Davis and Harper Orchards. Her final position was as a clerk and typist for Communication Data Services in magazine fulfillment.

Anita’s life was marked by her deep passion for education and civil service, which shaped both her career and volunteer work. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, guiding her to serve others with love, kindness and generosity. She dedicated much of her time to teaching and mentoring, whether as a Sunday School teacher, a leader for both Boy and Girl Scouts, a Missionites leader or a speaker for Christian Ladies Club. Anita also volunteered for Republican Party Campaigns, believing in the importance of civic engagement and service to her community.

Beyond her professional and volunteer commitments, Anita was an incredibly talented seamstress and a gifted watercolor artist who found joy in creative expression. She had a lifelong love for reading and cherished the beauty of plants and gardening, nurturing both her faith and the world around her with care and dedication.

Anita passed away peacefully at her home in Woodbine on January 31, 2025, at the age of 81 years, nine months and 22 days.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, Bryan Willis and his wife Carrie of Argyle, Texas, Brent Willis of Woodbine and Bethany and her husband CPT (RET) Craig Jones of Parkville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy M. Thunn of LaVista, Nebraska and Nancy and her husband Terry Paxton of Manilla, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Anita’s legacy of faith, love, creativity, and service will live on in the lives of those she touched.
