Annamarie Evelyn (Malone) Wendt was born on March 1, 1930 north of Dow City, Iowa to parents Reuben and Blanche (Hardy) Malone. She attended country school in the Dow City area. On May 31, 1946 she married Melvin M. Wendt. The couple lived near Charter Oak for a while then in Deloit, Dow City before settling in Woodbine in 1968. Anna worked at Rose Vista in the housekeeping department for 25 years.

Anna was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. She liked the color blue, hummingbirds, flowers and collecting state plates.

Anna died on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 75 years and three months.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Hazel Volkmann, Lillian Wendt, twins Marlene and Merlene Malone; two brothers, Lloyd James and Hanse Malone; son Roger Wendt in 1960. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin of Woodbine, Iowa; six children, Joleen & husband Robert Lueth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Joyce & husband Sonny McFerrin of Modale, Iowa, Carolyn & husband Denny Baxter of David City, Nebraska, Evelyn Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa and Randy Wendt & wife Robbie of Woodbine, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie & her husband Harlan Gustafson of Omaha, Nebraska and Marcelene Vogt of Dow City, Iowa; brother Earl Malone of Minnesota and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City, Iowa.
