Ardythe Mae (Olsen) Leaders was born May 2, 1930, to Albert and Sarah (Boren) Olsen in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in Treynor, Iowa and graduated from high school there. Ardythe then taught country school. On June 8, 1947, Ardythe married Gerald Leaders. The couple farmed near Gerald's childhood home near Bentley, Iowa until moving to Council Bluffs in 1960. In 1963, the family moved to Dunlap. Ardythe enjoyed help out at the implement business and taking care of the books. Gerald died on August 3, 2006.
Ardythe was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She most recently worshipped at the Followers of Christ, a Restoration Branch in Woodbine, Iowa. Ardythe and Gerald were charter members of the Antique Doorknob Collectors of America. Ardythe loved her flowers and cake decorating. She was an avid reader and a founding member of the Dunlap Historical Society.
Ardythe died on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 86 years, two months and 13 days.
Ardythe was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gerald. Ardythe is survived by her four children, Linda and husband Randy Frazier of Dunlap, Jane and husband Royl Roden of Pisgah, Glen Leaders and wife Jackie of Woodbine, and Gene Leaders of Dunlap; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother, Leo Olsen of Treynor, Iowa; three sisters, LaDonna and her husband Don Applegate of Oakland, Iowa, Rosalie and her husband Bob Soloth of McClelland, Iowa and Janet and her husband Roy Tiarks of Underwood, Iowa; and a host of relatives and friends.
