Arnold H. Heistand, 78, of Woodbine, IA , died Tuesday, December 16th, 2003 at Community Memorial Hospital, Missouri Valley, IA.

Arnold was born near Moorhead, Iowa on July 7, 1925, to parents George and Louise (Lovell) Heistand. He attended country school near Moorhead. He helped his parent's farm. On February 14, 1948 he married Lorene Swain at the Woodbine Methodist Church. The couple farmed west of Logan for five years. They then moved to their farm southwest of Woodbine and farmed there for 35 years. Arnold started working part time with his father-in-law, Harry Swain in real estate. In 1974, he quit farming and went into real estate full time and took over the office following Harry's death. Going to the office everyday was very important to Arnold. He would be at the office between 7 and 7:30 AM everyday and was doing so even this last month.

Arnold attended the Woodbine Christian Church and was a very active member of the Kiwanis Club.

Preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Leonard, Lawrence, Cloyce and Robert. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorene Heistand of Woodbine; son Mark Heistand and his wife Donnell of Parker, Colorado; daughter Mary and her husband Bruce Bro of Harlan, Iowa; five grandchildren, Justin Bro, Becky Bro, Madeline Heistand, Adrian Heistand and Jarred Heistand two sisters, Hazel Chambers of Dunlap, Iowa and Evelyn Avis of Woodbine, Iowa and many other relatives and dear friends.

Memorial services will be at 12 noon on Friday December 19, 2003 at the Christian Church in Woodbine. Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine.
