William "Bill" Albert Powley, aged 85, passed away on September 26, 2024, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born on October 8, 1938, in Woodbine, Iowa, Bill led a vibrant life marked by his passions for cars, travel and family gatherings at his cherished mountain home.

 Bill graduated from Woodbine High School in 1957 before attending Iowa State University and graduating in 1964. Bill married Dorothy Sue Mendon of Ames in 1962. His career spanned several decades in both Iowa and Arizona, beginning at Northwestern Bell in 1966, transitioning to AT&T, and later working at AlliedSignal. His professional journey reflected his dedication and work ethic, which were equally evident in his personal pursuits.

 Bill and family moved to Arizona in 1985 locating first in Tempe and then to Fountain Hills in 1992. They also enjoyed their home in Pinetop. 

 A man of many interests, Bill was an active member of the Fountain Hills Men's Club and the Fountain Hills Car Club. He was also a Rotarian and member of the Elks. He was often found serving as a golf ranger and starter at various Arizona golf courses and volunteering at the Phoenix Open. He also volunteered for many years with the Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation’s Mission of Mercy dental clinics. His enthusiasm for sports and his alma mater, Iowa State University, knew no bounds.

 Bill is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Sue Powley of Fountain Hills; children, William Brian Powley of Scottsdale, Rebecca Powley Hoeck (Michael) of Mesa, and Jill Anne Kiefer (Charles) of Mesa; grandchildren, Cossette Caroline Powley Shephardson (Kyle), Ryan Samuel Hoeck, Marissa Renae (Hoeck) Hess (Joseph) and Meredith Anne Kiefer; great grandchildren, Benjamin Alexander Shepardson, William Bowen Shepardson and Siena Marie Shepardson ; and his brother, Jack R. Powley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Frank and Ethel Gard Powley, brother, Robert A. Powley and grandson, William Alexander Powley.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill can be made to the Eckstein Center Hospice of the Valley hov.org/donate/donate-now/ supporting the compassionate services they provide to families in their time of need. Bill's zest for life and his enduring love for his family and friends will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

 At his request, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be planned for later this autumn.
