William Everett Probasco was born December 6, 1925, to William and Mary (Blankenship) Probasco in Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised in rural Dunlap and Woodbine. He attended Spring Creek Elementary and Woodbine High School. After high school Bill helped his dad with farming. Bill married Rosalie Birks on February 7, 1949, at the Christian Church Parsonage in Woodbine. The couple lived east of Woodbine and farmed until 1986. They cleaned the United Methodist Church for 22 years, and for several summers Bill worked for the city.

Bill enjoyed wood working, playing the guitar, training dogs and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, breaking horses and he loved to ride horses.

Bill died on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 83 years, six months, and 22 days.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; sister, Wilma Park-Postma; and brother, Edward "Harvey" Probasco. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Probasco of Woodbine, Iowa; three children, Gene (Ronda) Probasco of Woodbine, Iowa, Kay (Norris) Vetter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeff Probasco of Woodbine, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Soetmelk of Logan, Iowa, Catherine (Meredith) Smith Amass of Davis, California, Lillian (Murlyn) Ronk, of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
