Robert Leroy Ganzhorn was born July 25, 1923, to Elmer and Matie (Kucks) Ganzhorn in Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised in Woodbine and attended Woodbine High School. Bob started farming with his parents. On September 19, 1945, Bob married Betty Musgrave at the Methodist Church in Woodbine. The couple farmed Bob's mother's farm all of their life.

Bob was ASCS Committeeman, Township Trustee, received the Century Farm status in 2007 and Conservation Award in 2007. Bob loved his family ~ especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He also loved farming and new cars. He enjoyed eating ~ particularly fried chicken, potato salad and angel food cake.

Bob died on Saturday March 29, 2008 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 84 years, eight months, and four days.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Haight and Earl Gabel. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ganzhorn of Woodbine, Iowa; son, John (Ellen) Ganzhorn of Woodbine, Iowa; daughter, Deb (Bruce) Bloom of Elkhorn, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Vicki Ganzhorn, Juli Harman, Dawn Melcher, Jeff Bloom, Crystal Shaffer and Bud Flaitz; nine great grandchildren, Chandler, Katirja and Ryan Melcher, Matthew Bloom, Trace Harman, Ezra, Seth, Jackson and Syler Shaffer; sister, Iona Haight-Gabel of Woodbine; sister-in-law,Mae Ganzhorn of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
