Bonnie Mae (Retz) Gunia, 69, of Dunlap died on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at her home in Dunlap, Iowa. She was born April 6, 1939, to FW and Sally (Morris) Retz in Omaha, Nebraska. Bonnie was the first baby in Nebraska to survive being in an incubator weighing under 2 pounds. Bonnie attended South High School. On June 7, 1958, she married Ed Gunia at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Bonnie and Ed lived in Omaha for their first four years of marriage and then moved to Dunlap in 1962. They bought 4 County Lanes in 1962 and operated the bowling alley and raised their family there.
Bonnie had a ceramic shop out of their home in the 60's and 70's and then worked as a travel agent with American Travel in Missouri Valley in the 80's and 90's. Bonnie enjoyed playing bridge, going to the casinos and fishing. She was member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Eugene Retz, infant sister Dana Mae Retz, and grandson Keegan Michael Gunia. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ed Gunia Jr. of Dunlap, IA, four children, Mike and Jennifer Gunia and daughter Madeline of Dunlap, IA, Margie and Don Nielson and children Megan, Caitie and Nikki of Bellevue NE, Mark Gunia and special friend Lorna of Crescent, IA, Susie Gunia and fianc�e Kevin Young and daughter Sarah Scott of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Agnes Retz of Overland Park, Kansas and many relatives and friends.
