Carl Robert Ferguson was born May 21, 1930, to James and Mattie (Thompson) Ferguson in Dunlap, Iowa. Carl attended country school and then helped on the family farm. On December 23, 1954, Carl married Lola Boyce in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived in Norfolk, Virginia while he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Iowa with his brother, Ralph. After his honorable discharge, the couple returned to Dunlap and he worked for Leonard Bolton. He also drove a bulldozer for Bill McDonald. After his father's death, Carl farmed the family farm and also worked for IBP. They then moved to Panhandle, Texas in 1983 and worked for the IBP hide plant and retired from this job. After his retirement from IBP he worked for an area farmer in Texas. The couple returned to Dunlap in the fall of 2006. Carl then worked for Larry Malone.
Carl enjoyed woodworking ~ small craft projects and making wishing wells. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Carl died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at his home in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 78 years and 27 days.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lola on October 16, 2007; daughter, Carla; two brothers, Roscoe and Harold Ferguson; and one sister, Helen Henkelman. He is survived by his son, Calvin Ferguson of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Marvin Ferguson of Dunlap, Iowa, Edwin (Senna) Ferguson of Dubuque, Iowa, Ralph (Virginia) Ferguson of North Vernon, Indiana, one sister, Ruby Heun of Carroll, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
