Carol Rae (Mackey) Morrison was born February 3, 1944, to James Earl and Mabel Byrd (Trimble) Mackey in Woodbine, Iowa. She was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1960. On December 9, 1960, Carol married Donald "Bill" Morrison at the Woodbine Presbyterian Church. While Bill was in the Navy, the couple spent some time in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After Bill's honorable discharge from the Navy, the couple returned to Woodbine and Carol worked for an insurance company and First National Bank both in Omaha and then at Perfection Press in Logan. She retired from Perfection Press in July 2009.
Carol was a former member of the Woodbine Presbyterian Church. The couple was members of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club and they loved taking trips on the motorcycle. Carol was also a member of a bowling league in Dunlap for many years. She loved to cook for her family and loved to play cards. Carol was a good caregiver for her mother for many years.
Carol died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at her home in Woodbine at the age of 70 years, three months, and 25 days.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James E. Mackey, Jr.; and two sisters, Shirley Kay Corbett and Donna Lynn Perse. She is survived by her husband Donald "Bill" Morrison of Woodbine, Iowa; two daughters, Sherry and Allen Park of Woodbine, Iowa and Jayna and her husband John Becker of Boone, Iowa; five grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and her husband Chris, Heather, Cody and Andrew; one great grandson, Jaxen; three sisters, Mabel Lee Brummer of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marilyn Louise Connell of Omaha, Nebraska, and Janet Gayle and her husband Terry Heig of Sun City West, Arizona; brother-in-law, Harold Perse of Denver, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
