Carole Jane Schaefer Krajicek was born on August 17, 1938, in Luverne City, Minnesota to Richard and Marie (Mathys) Dryden. She grew up in Dow City, Iowa and attended school there. Carole was married to Murel Schaefer in December of 1957 until his death in 1988. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, Denver, Colorado and Omaha, Nebraska before making their home in Logan, Iowa. They were blessed with four children, Rick, Sheryl, Donald and Douglas. While in Omaha, Carole worked at Spareline Café and Steakhouse and then Ross’s Steakhouse. In Logan she worked at Perfection Form and then for many years (four foreman’s worth) at Clark’s Limestone. On March 28, 1992, Carole was united in marriage to Scott Krajicek in Logan. After her retirement, Carole enjoyed riding along with Scott while he was working for local farmers.
Carole had an undeniable zest for life, which was evident in her love for dancing and drag racing. She enjoyed playing softball and bowling, always eager to engage in friendly competition with friends and family alike. Her appreciation for the outdoors was reflected in her love for fishing, camping, skiing (but not swimming) and traveling, especially exploring the southern states. In quieter moments, Carole could be found reading good V.C. Andrews book. She leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure, and a spirit that will forever inspire those who were lucky enough to know her.
Carole died on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at her home in Logan, Iowa at the age of 86 years, six months and 17 days.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Murel; son, Doug Schaefer; siblings, Gordon Dryden and his wife Anne and Dolores and her husband Arnie Thompson; and nephew Randy Thompson. She is survived by her husband Scott Krajicek of Logan; children, Rick Schaefer and his wife Reynie of Fremont, Nebraska, Sheryl Mumm of Logan and Donnie Schaefer of Fremont; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIAL DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE LOGAN FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT OR THE HARRISON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY.
