Cathy Searcy

Catherine Diane Searcy was born on June 20, 1938, to Dale and Creola Mae (Vroman) Erlewine in Woodbine, Iowa. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1956. Cathy married Ronald Belcastro on June 16, 1956, and to this union five children were born. They moved to Brownsville, Oregon, and lived there until 1976. Then they moved to Poway, California, for a short time until they moved back to Brownsville in 1980. The couple divorced in 1986. Cathy was then married Rick Searcy. After their divorce, Cathy settled in Woodbine in the 1990’s.

Cathy traveled the country as a truck driver and also worked for many years as a CNA. She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling, especially to visit family. She liked going camping, riding dirt bikes and hunting. Cathy was also an author and had several articles published in the 1980’s. She was always finding a way to help others.

Cathy died on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Dunlap Specialty Care at the age of 83 years, three months and 25 days.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Connie McWhirter; three sons-in-law, Robert Canaday, Mike Sneed and Tom Brown. She is survived by five children, Mary Canaday of Halsey, Oregon, Sherry Sneed of Woodbine, Iowa, Dan and Christina Belcastro of Escondido, California, Bonita Brown of Halsey, Oregon, and Don Belcastro (Erika Orr) of Woodbine, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Shelli Belcastro; adopted daughter, Esther Muecke of Kansas City, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat and Glenda Erlewine of Woodbine, Jeanne and Bob Holloway of Crooked River Ranch, Oregon, Bob and Sandy Erlewine of Brownsville, Oregon, Tom and Judy Erlewine of Woodbine and Bill and Dawna Erlewine of Anchorage, Alaska;  and many other relatives and friends.
