Charles Donovan Berger, 69 of Mason City, Iowa died in an auto accident on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Kansas City, Missouri. Charles was born on November 14, 1935, in Dow City, Iowa to parents George C. and Hazel (King) Berger. He grew up in the Primghar area.
He started working in the Sanborn Creamery and later joined the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge from the Navy, he became an operating engineer, operating heavy equipment in the El Cajon, California area for 25 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operators Engineer Local #12. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and bowling.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Delaine and Lawrence, step brother,Vernon, and step sister Vivian. He is survived by three brothers, Kenneth and his wife, Lorna, of Wallls, Texas, Dennis of Lemon Grove, California, and Edward and Cathyrne of Griffith, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 21st at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap is handling the arrangements.
