Charles LeRoy Kuhlman
Charles was born on July 13, 1937 in Dow City, IA, to parents Alfred Herman and Mary Ann (Bonar) Kuhlman. He attended Olympus country school and Woodbine High School.
Charles was united in marriage to Lana Waite and to that union three children were born, Jeffrey Charles, Kevin Ray and Jill Ann. After returning from Colorado, where he worked on a hog ranch, Charles moved his family to rural Dunlap, where he farmed with Leonard Bolton until 1969. He then moved to a farm near Woodbine, where he resided until his death. On October 2, 1980, Charles married Irene McHugh adding two more sons, Gary Joe and Robert Lewis to the family.
Charles enjoyed life and was involved in various ventures besides farming, including driving school buses for country schools and Woodbine schools, hauling livestock and grain for area farmers, weighing cattle at the Moorhead Sale Barn, and transporting squirrel corn. Of late he was frequently seen in the Kuhlman's Korner kitchen cleaning the grill and ice cream machine or broasting chicken. He also kept busy catering with his wife Irene for various social events.
He had a special relationship with his grandchildren, always finding time to share with them. Charles also had a quick wit and was ready with a chuckle.
Charles died August 12, 2002 at his home near Woodbine, IA at the age of 65 years and 30 days.
