Charlie Hard

Charlie Junior Hard was born October 6, 1924, to Charlie T. and Pearl (Thiles) Hard in Panama, Iowa. He was raised in the Dunlap area and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1944. After serving in the United States Army during World War II Charlie married Rosanna Newland on February 6, 1946, in Denver, Colorado. The couple lived in Omaha from 1951 to 2002. Charlie owned and operated Ak-sar-ben Refrigeration Service Company. After selling the business he became a member of the Steam Fitters Local Union 464, eventually retiring from Nelson Refrigeration. In November of 2002, the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Charlie died on Saturday, November 17, 2012, in Phoenix, Arizona attaining the age of 88 years, one month, and 11 days.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosanna Hard; daughter Diane Hard; son-in-law, David Hansen; brother, Duane Hard; and brother-in-law, Donald Thompson. He is survived by his son, Steve Hard of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Patricia Hansen of Omaha, Nebraska; grandson, Conrad Hansen and wife Elizabeth of Omaha, Nebraska; three brothers, Kenneth and Betty Hard of Madras, Oregon, Burdette Hard of Mapleton, Iowa; Darrell and Leora Hard of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Lois Thompson of Dunlap, Iowa; sister-in-law Rosetta Hard of Dow City, Iowa; niece, Sally and her husband Robert Pryor; grand nieces, Lori, Samantha and Montgomery and many other relatives and friends.
