Corey Mefferd

Corey Michael Mefferd was born on November 17, 1991 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to parents Russ Mefferd and Tina Gray. Corey attended school in Denison, Dunlap and currently was in the sixth grade at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Corey participated in football, baseball and soccer. He loved to play video games. He was a graduate of the Dare Program at Lewis Central and chosen to attend the Dare camp this past summer. He was active in youth groups at the Denison Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center in Oakland, Iowa. He was baptized at the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center.

Corey died on Sunday, December 21, 2003 at the Children's Hospital in Omaha at the age of 12 years, one month and 4 days.

Survivors include his father Russ Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his mother Tina Mefferd of Mooresburg, Tennessee; his guardian Ronna Mefferd and Dennis Berger of Council Bluffs, Iowa; siblings Ronald Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Susan and Jeremy Gray of Sacramento, California, and Josephine and Trent Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandparents, Ron Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karilyn Weston of Denison, Iowa, John Gray of Bend, Oregon and Arlene Gray of Sacramento, California and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 - 9 PM Tuesday at the Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corey Mefferd Memorial Fund.
