Gladys Darlene "Enie" (Lyons) Williams was born December 2, 1929, to Lawrence and Anna (Leopold)Lyons in Hancock, Iowa. Enie grew up in Hancock and graduated from high school in 1947. She enjoyed playing basketball while in high school. She then went to cosmetology school in Des Moines and graduated from there in 1948. Enie married Laverne Williams on September 13, 1948, at the Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. She then worked at Dupree Variety Store, Bro's Variety Store, Countryside Timekeeper, and Bob's Caf�.

Enie was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Hemlock Club. She loved to dance and taught all three of her boys to dance. She enjoyed playing pool, puzzles, and gardening. Enie also enjoyed going to Goodwill and Salvation Army. She enjoyed the Pottawattamie County Fair and watching the Portsmouth town team play baseball. Enie particularly enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Enie died on Monday, May 19, 2008, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 78 years, five months, and 17 days,

Enie was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Scott Williams; daughter-in-law, Mary Williams; two sisters, Lavonne Jacobsen Yeo and Betty Williams; infant sister, Eudene Marie Lyons; nephew, Denny Jacobsen; and niece Shelly Williams. She is survived by her husband, Laverne Williams of Woodbine, Iowa; three sons, Randy (Judy) Williams of Avoca, Iowa, Rick (Pat) Williams of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Bruce (Vivian Jackson) Williams of Woodbine, Iowa; five grandchildren; two great grand-children; sister, Dorothy (Kenneth) McMaster of Atascadero, California; and many other relatives and friends.
