Marshall David Albert was born May 3, 1925, to Otto F. and Lena G. (Smith) Albert in Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised in the Dunlap area and graduated from Dunlap High School. After graduation he served in the Army Air Corp in Texas as an airplane mechanic during World War II. Dave married Donna Mullenix on September 8, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Woodbine, Iowa. He went on to work for Bus Brown Manufacturing for many years and then Omaha Steel, Midwest Inferno, and Sterling Manufacturing before retiring to be with Donna in ailing health. After her passing he spent time tending to his yard and garden.
Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms, stamp collecting, picking out walnuts. He also enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Costa Rica, Panama Canal, hot air ballooning, para sailing, and skydiving. In his spare time he enjoyed reading books and volunteering at the Omaha Performing Arts.
Dave was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap and the Woodbine Weiss American Legion Post 143.
Dave died on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at his home in Woodbine at the age of 84 years, six months and 23 days.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna on April 4, 1998; infant brothers, Robert and Ivan; brother, Eugene Arthur; brothers-in-law, Dale Mullenix and Bill Mullenix. He is survived by his daughter, Melody and Charles Warner of Woodbine, Iowa; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Jason Snyder of Much Dew Church, UK, Trina and Jake Wingert; three great grandchildren, Grayden and Rhys Snyder, Owen Wingert; brother, William Marion Albert of Loveland, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Albert of Dunlap, Iowa, Liz & Ron Leonard of Key Colony Beach, Florida, Corlys Mullenix of Yuma, Arizona and many other relatives and friends.
