Dave Austin

d. July 3, 2009

Papillion, Nebraska

David John Austin was born March 11, 1949, to Kenneth and Neva (Boe) Austin in Logan, Iowa. He was raised in rural Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1967. He attended college for one year and then a trade school. Dave then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years. After his honorable discharge Dave worked as a machinist for different employers and retired from Control Data in Omaha. Dave was a quiet man and never wanted to be the center of attention, but he was always there for his family, friends, and neighbors.

Dave enjoyed traveling and driving around so he could explore many locations. He also enjoyed cars, car shows, rodeos and fairs. He liked reading, especially westerns by Louis L'Amour. Dave helped his dad when his dad's health started to fail. Dave was also a great support to his Aunt Betty and drove her to all her chemo and doctor appointments. He was very reliable and devoted. He had strong opinions, but he wouldn't force them on anyone. Dave had a wonderful and wicked sense of humor, and he enjoyed life and was greatly loved.

Dave died on June 30, 2009, at the age of 60 years, three months, and 19 days.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Jane Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; two aunts, Irene Cleveland of Woodbine, Iowa, Enid Brown of Escondido, California; and many other relatives and friends.
