Denise Diane Oliver was born on November 22, 1958, in Pisgah, Iowa to Warren and Rosalie (Arbaugh) Oliver. She graduated from Logan Magnolia High School in 1977 and went on to attend the University of Iowa where she graduated in 1984, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Denise moved to Maryland where she worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital in pediatrics for 12 years. She went on to work at Clinical Studies Management Group (CSMG) where she monitored oncology studies in both cancer and cystic fibrosis (CF). Denise served as an advocate and warrior for those battling mighty foes from terrible diseases. As a nurse caring for children with CF, she kept in touch with them and their families when they were at home and not hospitalized. Denise was an accomplished professional and put her whole heart into her work, which showed by how important these families were to her, and her to them. During that time, Denise was married to Brooks Bosley for seven years before they went their own ways. Denise eventually opened her own clinical research business, “Oliver Clinical Research Management”. She moved back to Iowa in 2014. Denise made many lasting and cherished friendships through her profession.
Denise was known for her love of dogs and volunteered with Angel dog rescue. She installed a butterfly garden and was an advocate for pollinator gardens and butterfly rescue. Denise led a life filled with adventure and exploration. She loved to travel and went on many wonderful adventures. An outdoor enthusiast through and through, she enjoyed sailing across calm waters, navigating paddleboards along serene rivers, biking through scenic trails and embarking on challenging hikes. Preparation Canyon and Hitchcock Nature Center were among her favorites. She treasured most her time spent with family and dearest friends.
Denise died on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the age of 65 years, one month and 24 days, after a courageously fought battle with cancer.
Denise was preceded in death by her mother; infant brother, Warren Oliver Jr; and her nephew-in-law, Justin Eilers.
