Dewey David Cox was born December 25, 1969, to Ronald and Linda (Watters) Cox in Maquoketa, Iowa. Dewey attended school in Woodbine through the 8th grade and graduated in 1988 from Lo-Ma High School in Logan, Iowa. After his graduation, Dewey worked at Capital Construction in Logan, at the Union Pacific Railroad in Missouri Valley, Iowa and Eggings Welding Shop in Clinton, Iowa.
Dewey loved being outdoors, camping, coon hunting and mushroom hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed NASCAR ~ especially the driver Jimmy Johnson, leather work, and welding. Dewey loved his family, sunsets, drawing, watching science fiction movies, the television series In the Heat of the Night and scary movies in October. He was born 100 years too late. Dewey lived life to the fullest.
Dewey died on Friday, May 27, 2016, in Clinton, Iowa at the age of 46 years, five months, and two days.
Dewey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey and Bertha Cox and Tom and Helen Watters. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda and her husband Josh Black of Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughter, Alexis; parents, Ron and Linda Cox of Deming, New Mexico; three sisters, Ronda and her husband Wade McLaughlin of Oakland, Iowa, Patricia and her husband Dell Wohlers of Ridgefield, Washington, Angie and her husband James Clark of Schleswig, Iowa; brother, David Cox and his wife Rachelle of Deloit, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
