Donald Petersen

Donald Eugene Petersen was born January 4, 1934, to Rasmus and Harriet (Graft) Petersen near Glenwood, Iowa. He was raised in the Pony Creek area in Mills County, Iowa and near Beebeetown, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 ~ 1958. On February 7, 1959 Donald married Carol Diane Wilson in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple farmed and raised cattle south of Beebeetown and then purchased a farm north of Beebeetown.

Donald was very active in Harrison County Cattlemen's Association, and he served as president for many years. He helped establish H bar S Cattle Club to help Harrison and Shelby County youth learn about raising cattle. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Circle 8 Square Dance Club, and he supported the 4-H Clubs and Tri-Center FFA.

Donald died on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 74 years, six months, and 10 days.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Peter and Marvin Petersen and four sisters, Elvera Maines, Mildred Petersen, Ruth Smith and Dorothy Flury. He is survived by his wife, Carol Petersen of Logan, Iowa; three children, Calvin (JoAnn) Petersen of Neola, Iowa, Clifford Petersen &Ann Corporan of Omaha, Nebraska, Kim Clark of Logan, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one brother, Walter (Delores) Petersen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Leta Mae Lane of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Kathryn (Martin) Rockford of Shelby, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
