Dorothy Emswiler

Dorothy Marie (Neidermyer) Emswiler was born July 26, 1915, to William Charles and Christina (Henrietta) Neidermyer in Logan, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Beebeetown High School. Dorothy married John Peyton Emswiler on August 12, 1936. The couple was blessed with three boys. Peyton died on September 30, 1959. Dorothy moved to Council Bluffs in 1963. Over the years she worked at Four County Lanes in Dunlap, ABC Plumbing, and the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Omaha.

Dorothy was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley and later transferred her membership to St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, gardening, sewing and embroidery work. She hand crafted many clothes for herself, family, and friends.

Dorothy died on Monday, August 27, 2007, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 92 years, one month and one day.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peyton Emswiler; two sons, Marvin and Larry Emswiler; brother, Leonard Neidermyer and sister, Lucille Bromley. She is survived by her son, Ken Emswiler of Omaha, Nebraska; five grand-children; nine great grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, Sandra Emswiler of Omaha, Nebraska, Margie Emswiler of Dunlap, Iowa and Ginnette Jansen of Aurora, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
