Dorothy Leaders

Dorothy Fern (Pleas) Leaders was born on July 21, 1927, in Huggins, Missouri. She was the 9th child born of 10 children to Edward Franklin and Olive Cora (Frey) Pleas. Dorothy was raised in Huggins and Council Bluffs, Iowa, and she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. On December 14, 1946, Dorothy married Calvin Leaders at the home of his parents near Minden, Iowa.

Dorothy enjoyed her family and friends and she was very active with her church. She also enjoyed each spring and summer at the cabin on Spirit Lake.

Dorothy died on October 26, 2011, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 84 years, three months, and five days.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Effie, Velma, Jean, Evelyn, and Leota; and three brothers, Claude, Herbert and Gordon. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Calvin Earl Leaders of Dunlap, Iowa; four children, Connie and her husband Gary Jetter of Ankeny, Iowa, Richard Leaders of Urbandale, Iowa, Peggy and her husband George Ellis of Hardin, Missouri, Mark Leaders and his wife Heidi of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Scott Ellis and his wife Brandi, Kirsten and her husband Joe Manchester, Jason Leaders and his wife Carrie, Nicholas Leaders and David Leaders; six great grandchildren, Gracie Ellis, Mollie Ellis, Sophie Ellis, Kylie Manchester, Dannica Manchester and Liam Leaders; one sister, Nancy Ives of Mesquite, Nevada; and many other relatives and friends.
