MUSCATINE, Iowa - Edward M. Archer, 56, of Muscatine, died Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Genesis Hospital - West Campus, Davenport.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Jason Crossen of the Ss Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. Casketbearers will be Rich Archer, Don Archer, Gary Archer, Mike Lester, Dar Wilson, Randy Lewis, Jack McNelly, and Bill Moneymaker. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall following the service.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ed Archer Scholarship Fund. Online condolences for the Archer family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com .

Edward was born on February 11, 1951, in Council Bluffs, the son of James and Donna Thiles Archer. He married Kathy Lester on July 13, 1973, in Sheldon, Iowa.

He worked 19 years at Muscatine Power and Water as a lineman and later as systems control operator.

He was a member of the Ss Mary and Mathias Parish.

He loved his Harley, was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with close friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Archer of Muscatine; one son, Jason Archer and friend, Jess Krippel, of Ashville, North Carolina; one daughter, Jennifer Hargrave and husband, David, of Muscatine; one foster daughter, Michelle Riesenberg and husband, Glen, of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Logan Hagens and Vada Hargrave; two foster grandchildren, Heather and Joshua Riesenberg; his parents, James and Donna Archer, of Woodbine; three brothers, Don Archer and wife Nancy of Lincoln, Nebraska, Rich Archer and wife, Renee, of Nevada, Gary Archer and wife, Barb, of Papillion, Nebraska; and three sisters, Rose Peterson and husband, Dave, of Council Bluffs, Chris Dougherty and husband, George, of Missouri Valley, and Amy Brandon and special friend, Kennard Swift of Woodbine, and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his grandparents.
