Elda Shinn

Elda Mae (Jones) Shinn was born on October 26, 1919, near Woodbine, Iowa to parents John and Eva (Crowder) Jones. She attended country school and graduated from Woodbine High School. Elda married Ralph Shinn, and the couple farmed in the Woodbine area. She worked at various jobs including: a waitress at Larson Caf� in Dunlap, Foodland wrapping meat, at Wilkerson's in Fort Calhoun, at REC as a custodian, cleaning homes and most recently Elda and her daughter, Barb, managed the Town Inn Motel from the early 1990s until September of 2009.

Elda was a very hard worker and even though she never had an easy life she never wanted for anything. Elda's children and grandchildren were her life.

Elda died on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 90 years, five months and 19 days.

Elda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph, an infant son and daughter; son, Norman "Perry" Shinn; daughter, Barbara "Bubbles" Shinn; son-in-law, Frank Frazier; three brothers, Laverne, Charles and John Jones and four sisters, May Jones, Helen Jones, Marie Davis and Rosina Lowrey. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Frazier of Dunlap, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Libby (Fred) Ring of Woodbine, Iowa; sister-in-law, Esta Jones of Missouri Valley, Iowa; five grandchildren, Teresa Bonham of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Troy Shinn of Wilmington, Ohio, Shane Frazier of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brandon Frazier of Harlan, Iowa and Keith Frazier of Dow City, Iowa; six great grandchildren and other family and friends.
