Eleanor May (Hotchkiss) Powell was born September 17, 1917, to Aaron & Hazel (Booth) Hotchkiss in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was raised in Lincoln, and she cleaned houses. Eleanor married Stanley Powell on May 31, 1937. The couple lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and was blessed with one daughter, Carol. After Carol was in high school, Eleanor started working at Russell Stover Candies and worked there until her retirement. In 1996 the couple moved to Woodbine, Iowa.
Eleanor was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and playing cards. She also enjoyed dancing and traveling.
Eleanor died on Sunday, February 24, 2008, at her home in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 90 years, five months, and seven days.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley on December 23, 1998; one brother, Robert Hotchkiss; and one sister, Emma Yakel. She is survived by one daughter, Carol and her husband Kenneth Mohn of Woodbine, Iowa; one grand-daughter, Kristie Wainscott and Jeff Watkins of Woodbine, Iowa; one grandson, Mark Worth of Woodbine, Iowa; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
