Erma Singbeil

Erma B. (Wax) Singbeil was born on September 9, 1909 in Monona County south of Moorhead, Iowa to Isaac J. & Anna (Bollinger) Wax. She attended country school in Monona County until her family moved to Plainview, Nebraska in the spring of 1920. She finished her eighth grade education at District 16 country school. She graduated from Plainview High School in the class of 1928. In February of 1929, she married Reinhold W. Singbeil of Moorhead, Iowa in Pierce, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born, Harold, Russell and Merlyn. The couple farmed west of Dunlap and later east of Dunlap until retiring in 1966 at which time they moved into Dunlap.

Erma was blessed with a good and witty sense of humor and loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens.

Erma died on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 98 years and 16 days.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reinhold; infant sister, Clara; brother, Earl Wax and one son, Merlyn. She is survived by two sons, Harold Singbeil and his wife Marilyn of Pahrump, Nevada and Russell Singbeil and his wife Jane of Mountain Home, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
