Esther Echevarria

Esther Maria Rosado (Diaz) Echevarria was born January 29, 1927, to Juan and Catalina (Rosado) Diaz in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. Esther moved to the United States in 1953. On August 8, 1945, Esther married Filemon Echevarria. The couple lived in San Francisco, California where Esther was a seamstress.

Esther was a faithful member of her church and loved all of the church activities. She also enjoyed reading, embroidery, gardening and cooking. Esther was an ordinary person with an extraordinary spirit. Since meeting Jesus she walked with Him hand in hand through hardships, adversities, and illnesses in life. She confided in Jesus who gave her His strength to persevere, endure and bring her through to victory through undying faith in Him. She ran the race of life and endured until the end with a sweet and loving spirit always interceding in prayers for all. With Jesus in our life it is never goodbye ~ only I’ll be seeing you again.

Esther died on July 16, 2011, at Bergan Mercy Hospital at the age of 84 years, five months, and 17 days.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Filemon Echevarria on November 7, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Kevin) Gray of Omaha, NE; son, Carlos Echevarria of Portland, OR; stepson, Filemon (Migdalia) Fernandez of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren, Tom (Sue) Caniglia of St. George, UT, Kathy (Kelly) Munson of Omaha, NE, Christopher Caniglia of Omaha, NE, Chantel (Chad) Kirk of Scranton, IA, Debbie Bone of NC; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Gladys Moreno and Miriam Morales both of San Francisco, CA, Carmen Ward of Valrico, FL; brother, Hector Diaz of Las Piedras, PR; and many other relatives and friends.
