Eva Mae (Conrad) Thompson was born on June 15, 1929, in David City, Nebraska, to Harry William and Annamarie Johanna (Bock) Conrad. She attended country school in the David City and Bellwood, Nebraska area. When Eva was 10 years old her family moved to Omaha and she continued her education there. After her schooling she worked at Folgers in Omaha. Eva married Harvey Jerdon in 1947 and to this union one daughter, Cheryl Kay, was born. In 1949, Eva married Edward Thompson and 6 more children, Sheila Mae, Linda Lea, Kerry Dean, Timothy Wade, Dennis Dean, and Toni Yvonne, were born into the family. The couple lived near Logan and in 1964, they moved to the country between Woodbine and Dunlap.
Eva was a baker and baked many pies for a restaurant in Woodbine in the mid 1960’s and she was also an Avon sales representative. Eva enjoyed bingo, dominoes, playing cards, Artex painting and working with ceramics. When the family would take vacations, Eva would stay home to take care of the animals. More than anything, Eva loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand- children.
Eva died on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Rose Vista Nursing Home, at the age of 90 years, four months and 12 days.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Thompson; two sons, Dennis and Kerry Thompson; daughter, Linda Byrd; grandson, Shawn Freeman; granddaughters, Lori Duysen Gunn and Penny Dawn Baker Hulsebus; great-grandson, Jarrod Alan Freeman; and brother, Bill Conrad. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Gibson of Dunlap, Iowa, Sheila Baker of Dunlap, Iowa, Toni and Bill Erwin of Dunlap, Iowa; son, Tim Thompson of Colorado; brother, Harry Lee and Deb Conrad of Arkansas; adopted sister, Debbie Nagiatta of California; 20 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and countless other relatives and friends.
