Evelyn Colene (Johnston) Ray Finken was born November 16, 1925, to Edgar and Fern (Cooper) Johnston in Langdon, Missouri. She was raised in the Rockport, Missouri area and graduated from Rockport High School. Evelyn worked at the bomber plant in Omaha, Nebraska and then attended and graduated from cosmetology school in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1947. She worked in Tarkio, Missouri. Evelyn married Harold Ray on November 20, 1950 in Falls City, Nebraska. The couple moved to Audubon, Iowa and then to Dunlap. In Dunlap the couple started Ray's Feed and Fertilizer. They sold the plant in 1975. Harold continued to work at the plant as the assistant manager. Harold died on August 8, 1976. On October 18, 1977, Evelyn married Ellis Finken. The couple continued to live in Dunlap until 1981 when they moved to Logan. Evelyn worked at the Tru Value in Logan. She retired and the couple moved to a farm near Beebeetown. Evelyn went back to work at Western Marketing. Ellis died on October 10, 1996. In January of 1997 Evelyn moved into Kovar Court in Missouri Valley. In August of 2008 she became a resident of Northview Manor in Tarkio, Missouri following a stroke.

Evelyn was a member of the Eagles Club in Missouri Valley. She enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, western movies, cooking, listening to music and dancing, and going out to eat with her friends.

Evelyn died on Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Northview Manor in Tarkio, Missouri at the age of 83 years, two months, and 24 days.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold on August 8, 1976; second husband Ellis Finken on October 10, 1996; and step son Jim Finken. She is survived by her three children, Gail and her husband Larry Nichols of Garden City, Kansas; Steve Ray and his wife Mary of Minden, Nebraska and Cheryl and her husband Craig Jones of Tarkio, Missouri; step children, Mark Finken and his wife Janelle of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Joan Tapp of Omaha, Nebraska; step daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Finken of Beebeetown, Iowa; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; sister Judy Van Gundy of Tarkio, Missouri and many other relatives and friends.
