Floyd Haworth

Floyd Allen Haworth was born April 4, 1910, to Allen and Mabel (Sharp) Haworth in Dow City, Iowa. He was raised in Dow City and graduated from Dow City High School in 1927. Floyd married Mary Damery of Woodbine on August 20, 1938. The couple lived in Minnesota for five years before returning to Council Bluffs. Floyd was a farmer and also a bookkeeper. The couple moved to Woodbine in 1972 following Floyd’s retirement.

Floyd was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club. He also served on the Woodbine City Council for several years and helped maintain the White Floral Gardens. He enjoyed being outside and raising a large garden. He was a very patient and kind man and never raised his voice with his children or grandchildren.

Floyd died on May 5, 2011, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 101 years, one month and two days.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Haworth on September 23, 1996; sister, Verona Haworth and his brother Thayne Haworth. He is survived by his six children, Dwight (Ann) Haworth of Papillion, Nebraska, Al (Gladys) Haworth of Fall City, Nebraska, Marlee Jensen of Woodbine, Iowa, Marliss (Larry) Rockwell of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marchele (Steve Dunn) Haworth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marilyn (Charlie Johnsen) Haworth of Woodbine, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
