Gale E. Muxfeldt was born on January 1, 1937, on a farm east of Logan to parents Elmer and Opal (Graham) Muxfeldt. He grew up in the Logan, Woodbine and Persia areas. He graduated from Logan High School in 1955. Gale then served for 2 years in the US Marines. On August 18, 1957, Gale married Sharon Oviatt at the Logan Christian Church. They lived in 29 Palms, California while Gale was in the Marines and then moved back to Logan. They were blessed with three boys, Lonnie, Scott and Randy. Gale worked various jobs before working at Logan Produce for 40 years. He retired in 2003. After retirement he mowed at the Logan Magnolia Schools for 20 years, just retiring from that position last year.
Gale loved following the various sports in Logan. He loved following his kids and grandchildren and recently the great grandchildren in their events. For over 60 years Gale could be found at the school volunteering on the sidelines of various sports. Whether it was being a part of the chain gang or running the clock, there weren’t many sporting events he missed. Because of his dedication he was inducted into the Logan Magnolia Hall of Fame with recognition for all the work he did for the school. Gale also raised greyhound racing dogs for several years. He was a member of the Logan Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years and also a member of the Logan 4th of July fireworks crew where he helped for 50 years.
Gale died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 88 years, one month and three days.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; great-grandchildren, Westyn, Whitley and Waylon Muxfeldt; granddaughter-in-law, Jordan Straight Muxfeldt; and brother and sister-in-law, Nile and Anne Muxfeldt. He is survived by his three sons, Lonnie Muxfeldt and his wife Lori of Harlan, Iowa, Scott Muxfeldt and his wife Leah and Randy Muxfeldt and his wife Laura all of Logan; six grandchildren, Josh & Kendra Muxfeldt and their children Reese and Everlie, Reid Muxfeldt, Kelsey and Andrew Fraher, Shane and Amber Muxfeldt and their children Wayde, Madilynn and Kolter, Jordan and Samantha Muxfeldt and their children Jackson and Emma, and Jameson Muxfeldt and Jazlyn Cornelious; and many other relatives and friends.
