Genevieve Smith

Genevieve (Pryor) Smith was born March 12, 1922, to Henry and Mary (Schoberg) Pryor in Dunlap, Iowa. Genevieve met Cliff Smith in 1936 and the couple was married March 14, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. Gen worked at various jobs in the Dunlap area until the couple purchased the Smith Service Station in Dunlap. They operated this business for many years.

Gen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was baptized on March 24, 1922. Gen enjoyed all the ladies groups associated with the church. She also enjoyed the card parties with their friends.

Gen died on Monday, October 13, 2008, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 86 years, seven months, and 1 day.

Gen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff Smith in 2007; and four sisters, Evelyn Pryor, Gertrude Pryor, Helen Pryor, and Luella Hostetter. She is survived by three nieces, Charlene Wick and Connie Chamberlain both of Portland, Oregon, Sheila Jensen of Beavercreek, Oregon; one nephew, Richard Hostetter of Wickenburg, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
