Gladys Glee (Barnes) Gardner was born December 18, 1929, to Marguerite (Michael) and Edward Barnes in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Logan in the Hardscratch area. Gladys married Dale Gardner in 1947, in Avoca, Iowa. The couple farmed near Moorhead, Iowa. Dale died on January 5, 1993. Gladys moved to Woodbine in 2013.
Gladys enjoyed reading romance novels, cooking and traveling. She also enjoyed going to the Grand Ole Opry. Gladys loved her family and going to eat at the Feed Bunk in Moorhead. She also enjoyed working on the crosswords puzzles at the Feed Bunk. Gladys enjoyed volunteering her time at the Moorhead Welcome Center.
Gladys died on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 86 years and 20 days.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Gardner; brother, Bill Barnes and five sisters, Betty Butcher, Donna Droegemeier, Marian Seidel, Carole Barnes and Joan Williams. She is survived by four siblings, Shirley Cullifer of Norfolk, Virginia, Bonnie Worley of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Beverly Zoll of Omaha, Nebraska, Norman Barnes and his wife Chris of Omaha, Nebraska; and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
