Halbert "Hap" Kindred was born on July 7, 1932, to Halbert and Mary (Simmons) Kindred in Denver, Colorado. He lived in many places and attended high school in Nebraska City. Hap proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1949~1954. After his honorable discharge Hap worked in Omaha and Council Bluffs as a stationary engineer. Hap married Sharron Poe in 1986 and the couple moved to Woodbine in 1987. Hap worked for U.S. West in Omaha until his retirement in 1995.
Hap was a member of the Eagle's Club and was a Mason. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed music. In his younger years, Hap enjoyed racing cars in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Hap died on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 78 years and eight days.
Hap was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roberta Herman. He is survived by his wife, Sharron Kindred of Woodbine, Iowa; two daughters, Tobie Kindred and Shauna Kindred both of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons, Bruce Kindred & his wife Ruth and Allen Kindred & his wife Karen all of Omaha, Nebraska; four step daughters, Judy & her husband Tim Grant of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Janette & her husband Willis Hiles of Austin, Indiana, Kathleen Belt of Omaha, Nebraska, Karen & her husband Chad Hayes of Omro, Wisconsin, step son, Steven Baxter & his wife Charlotte of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; nine step grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
