Harley Francis Heim was born November 10, 1926, in Logan, Iowa to parents John and Martha (Kierscht) Heim. He attended Mount Hope country school and graduated from Logan High School in 1944. He recently attended his 60th high school reunion. Harley married Marvelene Williams on August 20, 1948 at her parent's farm near Harlan, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in the Hardscratch area southeast of Logan. On November 1, 1997, the couple moved into Logan. Marvelene died on February 17, 1999.
Harley's hobbies were farming as well as raising hogs. He was a kind and honest man to everyone he met. Harley particularly enjoyed fixing things - especially those things that were very challenging.
Harley died on September 14, 2004, at his home attaining the age of 77 years 10 months and four days.
Harley was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son Raymond Heim in 1973; grandson Ryan Meeker in 1988; brother Elmer; and sister Jean Barry. He is survived by two daughters Glenda and her husband Ronnie Meeker of Woodbine, Iowa, and Monie and her husband Marc Paulson of Pacific Junction, Iowa; three grandchildren Brenda and her husband Paul Zahner of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; Rick Meeker and his wife Leigh of Woodbine, Iowa, and Nathan Paulson of Ames, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
