THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION
Harold Bonsall was born as Harold Leverne Lindquist on August 12, 1917, in Boone, Iowa to Lena and Ernest Lindquist. His father was killed when he was a baby and later his mother married Joe Bonsall. Harold had his name changed to Bonsall when he entered the service in January of 1940. When war broke out, he transferred from the Army to the Air Force. During the war, he was a radio operator and a gunner. He flew many missions over Europe. He was with the 384th Strategic Air Force Bomber Division. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. In January of 1954, Harold married El Marie Frandsen of Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away in April of 1968. On October 3, 1969, Harold married Ruth Cook Hansen. Harold was in the appliance business for 40 years. At first he was in partnership with his brother, John. Later his brother, Marion, joined them. John then went into business for himself as Bonsall TV.
Harold was a member of the Dunlap American Legion for over 50 years, Crystalite Lodge of Logan, Iowa and the Abdu-Behr Shriners of Sioux City, Iowa.
Harold died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 93 years and 21 days.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, El Marie, wife Ruth; three brothers, John, Marion and Henry; two sisters, Elvera Cooper and Elsie Nelson; and sister-in-law, Margaret Bonsall. Harold is survived by his step-daughter, Jannes Peters of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two grandsons, Mike and Connie Peters and Mark and Sharon Peters of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister, Betty and Kenneth Leonard of Logan, Iowa; sister-in-law, Pauline Bonsall of Dunlap, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Kristina, Ian and Ariele; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
