Harold Lee Johnson was born November 13, 1925, to Walter and Rosa (Mandelko) Johnson in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Harold married Ruth LaChappell on September 1, 1962. The couple lived in Dunlap. Harold was a truck driver, worked at IBP for 22 years and also at Dunlap Fertilizer.

Harold enjoyed driving the SWI transit bus. He was a member of the Dunlap Saddle Club. He enjoyed playing cards and showing his '48 International Truck.

Harold died February 16, 2008, at his home in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 83 years, three months, and three days.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Johnson; grandson, Lance Adams; three sisters, Alice Johnson in infancy, Florence Phillips, Vera Ehlert; and three brothers, Robert, Harlan and Bernard Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Johnson of Dunlap, Iowa; three daughters, Patsy and her husband Rich Doran of Omaha, Nebraska, Carol and her husband Sean Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kathy and her husband Sidney Smith of Columbus, Georgia; one son, Mike Johnson and his wife Amy of Omaha, Nebraska, 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Johnson of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
