Helen Louise Lambert was born on August 20, 1926, in Harrison County, Iowa to parents Clifford & Iva (Jackson) Brewster. She attended country school near Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1943. She then attended Dana College and received her Teacher's Certificate. She taught country school near Dunlap. On November 10, 1944, she married Robert Lambert at the
Methodist Parsonage in Denison, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Robert in 1949 and Randy in 1953. In 1954, the family moved to Council Bluffs. Helen continued to teach in Council Bluffs at St. Peter's Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School, Roosevelt Elementary and Bloomer Elementary. She retired in 1988 as a special education teacher from Bloomer Elementary School. In 1994, the couple moved to Dow City, Iowa. In March of 2003, they moved back to Council Bluffs.
Helen was a member of the 5th Avenue Methodist Church in Council Bluffs and then the United Methodist Church in Dow City. She was very active with the United Methodist Women at both churches and had held many offices. She loved music and to crochet, bowl, golf, read the Bible. She especially enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandchildren.
Helen died on Monday, March 8, 2004 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 77 years, six months, and 17 days.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert "Bob" on October 13, 2003, a sister Dorothy Reed. She is survived by two sons Robert & Marge Lambert of Red Hill, PA and Randy & Deb Lambert of Council Bluffs, IA; four grandchildren Robert Lambert Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Brad & Karen Lambert of Union, NJ, Jessica Lambert of Maryville, MO and Rachel Lambert of Council Bluffs, IA; two brothers Clifford & Florella Brewster of Logan, IA and Dean & Eunabelle Brewster of Heber Springs, AK and many other relatives and friends.
