Howard Ernest Stephens was born on September 14, 1927, to Bryant and Vera (Townsel) Stephens in Almyra, Arkansas. He was raised in Hope, Heber Springs and Little Rock, Arkansas. Howard married Donna Means in August of 1966. Howard drove truck, was a mechanic and welder. He worked in the garage and sewer department for the City of Omaha. At one time he operated a motel in North Platte, Nebraska and also worked on boat trailers and grain augers. Howard retired from the house cleaning business that he and Donna operated for many years. Howard loved to travel. He also enjoyed taking walks around Woodbine.
Howard died on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 86 years, nine months, and 14 days.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Stephens; seven siblings Carl Hensley, Lorene Cordell, Homer Stephens, Charles Stephens, Tom Stephens, Jim Stephens, and Marge Rowell. He is survived by his wife, Donna Stephens of Woodbine, Iowa; three sons, Richard (Robin) Stephens of Malcolm, Nebraska, Jack (Yong) Green of Portland, Oregon, Donald (Holly) Stephens, Omaha, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Linda Blair of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
