Irene Pedersen

Irene Dorothy (Olson) Pedersen was born November 20, 1924, to Olius and Bertha (Evenson) Olson in Soldier, Iowa. She was raised in Soldier and attended country school. Irene married Lawrence Kenneth Pedersen on June 14, 1948. The couple farmed near Defiance. They also lived in the Dunlap, Dow City and Ute areas. In 1970 she moved to Denison and Irene worked for Farmland for 20 years. She retired in 1986.
Irene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She enjoyed going to the casino, working crossword puzzles and working in her yard. Irene was known for her wonderful sense of humor.
Irene died September 25, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and five days.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Pedersen; son, Howard Pedersen; daughter, Connie Pedersen; two sisters, Ethel Hartwig, Edith Heistand; and four brothers, Virgil, Russell, Lyle and Raymond Olson. She is survived by her four children; Larry Pedersen of Ute, Iowa, Rick Pedersen and Leo Pedersen both of Denison, Iowa, Sharon Pedersen and David Slinger of Charter Oak, Iowa; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
