James Oliver

James Irvin Oliver was born March 30, 1938, to Ted and Corlyss (Burress) Oliver in Pisgah, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated in 1956 from Pisgah High School. Jim was in the U.S. Army Reserves as a company clerk and he also started to farm. Jim married Anna Viner in Henderson, Iowa on May 4, 1961. The couple lived in Omaha and he worked at Mark's Distributing and Continental Printing. They moved to Pisgah and Jim worked at the lumber yard and the elevator. Jim also worked for Tom Barry's service station and at this time the couple moved to Woodbine. In November of 1968 they moved back to the Pisgah area to farm and then moved back to Woodbine in 1993. Jim then worked for Rodney Plath and he also did fencing work with John Miller in Dunlap.

Jim loved fishing and going coyote and deer hunting. He liked to play euchre and to listen to the Kansas City Royal's baseball games.

Jim died on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 72 years, seven months, and 10 days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Harold Voss; and nephew, Kevin Voss. He is survived by his wife, Anna Oliver of Woodbine, Iowa; three sons, Steve and Audra Oliver of Geneseo, Illinois, Deron and Amber Oliver of Sioux City, Iowa, Kendall and Pam Oliver of Bronson, Iowa; five grandchildren, Austin, Allie, Noah, Jordan, and Ryan; two sisters, Karen Voss of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Joyce & Bob Hall of Pisgah, Iowa; brother, Keith Oliver of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
