James Leland "Jim" Slagle was born January 14, 1945, to Charles and Orlene (Siler) Slagle in Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1964. Jim worked at the Woodbine Twiner during high school and he continued in the printing business in Neola, Omaha and Logan. He also did custom printing from his home. For 33 years he worked at the Nebraska Medical Center in the printing department. Jim married Peggy Corwin in 1983 at the Christian Church in Woodbine. The couple lived in Council Bluffs and then in February of 1985 they moved to Corley, Iowa.
Jim loved his motorcycle. He also enjoyed horseback riding, camping and attending horse shows. Jim's favorite past-time was spending time with his twin granddaughters.
Jim died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, after a long battle with heart disease surrounded by his family at his home in Corley at the age of 71 years, two months, and nine days.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Bob Baker and father-in-law, Donald Corwin. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Corley, Iowa; daughter, Megan (Shane) Phillips of Missouri Valley, IA; twin granddaughters, Whitney and Taylor; five siblings, Denny (Peggy) Slagle of Dunlap, Iowa, Linda Baker of Woodbine, Iowa, Rosa Slagle of Woodbine, Iowa, Steve Slagle of Harlan, Iowa, Ronnie (Konda) Slagle of Sac City, Iowa; mother-in-law, Bertha Corwin of Woodbine, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
