Jason Mumm

Jason Paul Mumm, 37, of Defiance, Iowa died on Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home in Defiance, Iowa. He was born April 23, 1971, to Charles and Verla (Rau) Mumm in Denison, Iowa. He was raised in Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1990. He worked in Lincoln, Nebraska as a ranch hand, in 1993 he worked for Erlbacher Brothers, and in 1996 he worked at Panama Transfer. Jason married Barb Erlbacher on April 26, 1997, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two sons. In 2004 Jason started his own company, Double J Construction. In March of 2008 he started working for Estes Trucking in Avoca, Iowa.

Jason was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling. He loved everything that had to do with horses and livestock ~ including breaking horses and participating in horse shows. He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers and being with his boys. Socializing with family and friends was what Jason enjoyed most.

Jason was preceded in death by two sisters, Kay Lynn Mumm in 1963 and Jill Mumm in 1988. He is survived by his two sons, Timothy and Tyler Mumm of Harlan, IA; parents, Charles & Verla Mumm of Earling, IA; siblings, Nancy (Bob) Blum of Malvern, IA, Jeff (Cindy) Mumm of Des Moines, IA, Dennis (Joyce) Mumm of Harlan, IA, Doug (Vicky) Mumm of Woodbine, IA, Kelly (Darcey) Mumm of Neola, IA, Gina Mumm of Gretna, NE, Jolene (Scott) Gubbels of Hubbard, NE, Alan (Glenda) Mumm of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
