Jerald Elwood Spotts was born August 28, 1945, in Dunlap, Iowa to Elwood and Viola (Sullivan) Spotts. Jerry grew up in the Dunlap area, attended St. Patrick's Catholic School, and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1964. At the age of 18, after being hospitalized for three months, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Jerry worked for the State of Iowa as a controller for nine years until he became disabled.
Jerry was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed going for coffee at Pizza Amour, and being around people. He also enjoyed attending high school athletic events and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Jerry died on February 24, 2014, at the Dunlap Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 68 years, five months, and 27 days.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bonnie Piro and Betty Sheer. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. David (Ann) Piro of Overland Park, Kansas; seven nieces and nephews, Michelle (Ed) Thies of Bloomington, Minnesota, Scott (Patty) Piro of Madison, Alabama, Dave (Misty) Piro of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Sue (Gary) Reichling of Plano, Texas, Mark (Lynnda) Piro of Lincoln, Nebraska, Larry (Theresa) Sheer of State Center, Iowa; Terri (Jory) Treiber of Ida Grove, Iowa; and many great nieces, nephews, and friends.
