Jimmie Lee Hiller was born on July 30, 1944, to Jennie Huebner Hiller in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1962. Jim then attended Dana College in Blair. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Jean Janes on September 12, 1964, at the First Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. They were blessed with a son, Richard and a daughter, Julie. Jim worked for Roberts Dairy, Iowa Power, Midwest Power and then MidAmerican Energy. Though Jim loved spending time with family and friends, his favorite role was being a grandpa. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being called Papa. He would never miss an event his children or grandchildren were in; he was their biggest fan. Morning coffee was one of his favorite things to do so he could brag about his kids and grandkids, but to also hear the many stories from his friends. He was an affectionate, dedicated and hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a faithful member of his church, First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley, for many years and was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort to whomever needed it. His passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
