Jim Houston

James David Houston was born July 30, 1943, to Raymond and Helen (Hawn) Houston near Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised near Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1961. Following graduation he worked at Armour Packing Plant in Omaha. Jim then attended orthodontic appliance lab school in San Francisco, California and then worked for Dr. Morland for seven years. Jim married Kathi Chisman on May 25, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple farmed and operated an orthodontic lab for 40 years.

Jim enjoyed working on cars, drag racing, watching hockey, and he loved animals. He was an avid fan of Omaha Lancer Hockey and Kansas State Football. He also served as Farm Bureau President. Jim's greatest joy was being a dad.

Jim died on Monday, August 24, 2015, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 72 years and 25 days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathy Gates. He is survived by his wife, Kathi Houston of Woodbine, Iowa; son, Andy Houston and special friend Cara Peacock of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, John Houston of Woodbine, Iowa; brother-in-law Fred Gates of Littleton, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
