Joan Julia (Hugron) Hein was born September on 16, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa to Harry A. and Zella (Billings) Hugron. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux City in 1945. Joan attended Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated with a degree in music in 1949. She taught music at Dow City, Iowa during the school year of 1949-1950. On September 16, 1950, Joan married Charles R. Hein in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple farmed near Woodbine, Iowa. After the couple retired from farming they moved to Monument, Colorado for ten years and to Omaha, Nebraska. Charles "Tink" died in January of 2007. Joan then moved to Austin, Texas to be close to her daughters.
Joan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine. She was the church organist for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastside Social Club in Woodbine. She liked to travel, crochet, take walks, and she taught piano lessons for many years.
Joan died on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Brookdale Senior Living in Austin, Texas at the age of 90 years, one month and 12 days.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Zella (Billings) Hugron; husband, Charles "Tink" Hein; son, Vincent Hein; two brothers, Frank Fachman and Richard Fachman. She is survived by her three children, Jim Hein and his wife Dianne of Houston, Texas, Tricia Hein and her husband Steve Sjoberg of Austin, Texas and Susan Hein of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Claire and her husband Jack Blanton and Preston Hein; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
